Britain allowed filming to take place in the Foreign Secretary’s office, an honor rarely bestowed upon any film or screen production, especially an American one
Synopsis
Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, is thrust into a high-profile position she is ill-suited to in the midst of an international crisis, with tectonic consequences for her marriage and political future. The producers convinced the American and British governments to allow the series to use real-world locations, including the still-recently operating American embassy (at Nine Elms), which opened in 2018.
The only available location was Winfield House, the actual residence of the American ambassador
Although it is accurately described as occupying the largest residential area in London (11 acres) outside of Buckingham Palace, the producers used a country house outside the city for filming. ).
It’s truly original – it’s something that hasn’t been done before
As hard as it may be to believe, this series is also ‘fresh’. Something else of significance happens in the middle of the first episode, and somehow the drama’s creators managed to convince the people who made the trailers not to include it – or even hint at it.
The writing is clever; the plot and dialogue flow seamlessly
I’m only halfway through the second episode, but I can already tell that this is not like the spy/suspense genre shows or books. It’s also somewhat refreshing because it’s not dominated by the kind of paranoia that bothers Australians and others.
